HTC Amaze 4GWhat do you launch next if you already have the Sensation? HTC ups the ante by releasing a faster and cooler smartphone in the form of the HTC Amaze 4G. The phone tries to raise the bar for those who love Android phones and make sure the elements are there to be more inviting than the rest of the phones out in the market.

This phone does not come with the Beats Audio but makes sure you can surf in LTE speed one like on T-Mobile’s 42 Mbps network.

Hardware

The HTC Amaze 4G drops the thin is better mantra but commands the bigger is better with its 5.1×2.58 inch body. It is comparable to other smartphones at 0.46 inch of thickness and tips the scale at 6.1 ounces.

The LCD display is big enough at 4.3 inches with Gorilla Glass coating. Comparing it to other LCD equipped Android phones, the screen is a bit dull. The colors are not as vibrant and the viewing angle range is not that wide. We were hoping that HTC equipped the Amaze 4G with Super AMOLED Plus screen which is a sure winner. It is a good looking handset nonetheless in its unibody made of plastic and metal encase its internals.

The camera of the Amaze 4G comes with an 8-MP module similar to the myTouch 4G Slide. The camera comes with a user friendly software with several scene modes. The video comes in good HD as promised.

Software

The Amaze 4G does not have anything revolutionary for its interface as it runs on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread that comes with Sense 3.0. Maybe HTC is reserving the bigger punch of the Sense 3.5 for another offering.

The Qualcomm chip though makes the phone run smoothly without any hiccups. Going from one screen to another or from one web page to another goes very smoothly. Being an Android, it comes with the usual bloatware. The injected apps are Adobe Reader, 411 & More, More for Me, Lookout Security, Qik Video Chat, and Polaris Office.

Verdict

The phone can actually be renamed HTC “Awesome” 4G. The Amaze 4G will take a few hours from your work time, and make your fingers a bit more busy tinkering. The battery though can be improved.

The X10 Experia is Sony Ericsson’s attempt to take advantage of the very popular Android operating system. Since Android is now the best selling smart phone operating system this really isn’t surprising. The question is how well have Sony Ericsson done at creating a phone that can compete in a tough market.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10The first thing that most people notice about the X10 is its size, this phone is fairly large compared to its competitors. Of course part of the reason for that is that it has a bigger screen than other phones as well. Despite its large size the X10 is a fairly light phone, this is primarily because it of the heavy use of plastic. Although it keeps the weight down it does give the impression that the phone is a little flimsy.

The touch screen is excellent very large and with a high resolution. That makes it very easy to read even the smallest print which can be a problem with a lot of phones. The large touch screen also makes it fairly easy to type with the QWERTY keyboard.

The Android operations system is of course excellent, one of the reasons that Sony Ericsson chose to develop this phone. The interface is outstanding and navigation is very easy. There is a reason that Android phones have become best sellers and anyone using the X10 Experia will quickly come to the same conclusion.

There are a couple of negatives with the X10 the biggest being the camera. The picture quality is fairly good if there is a lot of light but not good at all in low lighting conditions. This seems to be an issue with the flash, hopefully future versions come with a better flash. Another complaint is that unlike most of its competitors the X10 Experia doesn’t include a built in GPS navigation system, this is a fairly big oversight since most smart phone users expect there to be one. If you can get one of those awesome Sony Ericsson X10 Deals dialaphone is offering these obviously don’t matter too much, but I wanted to mention them anyway.

The Wave was unwrapped by Samsung during the recent Mobile World Congress. It is the first smartphone by Samsung to run on their Bada Mobile OS. This phone is more for the international market where the provider does not subsidized the units making it a bit at the pricey end.

Design

It will not be the best touch screen phone in the market but it does the job especially for those looking for something compact. The phone comes in at 4.6 inches x 2.2 x 0.4. The Wave is very easy with your fingers and palm except that the virtual keyboard is a bit cramped.

The design lines are pretty sleek and in perfect combo with the aluminum case of the Samsung Wave.

The AMOLED display of the phone does the job with very vibrant graphics, excellent responsiveness, and better angles for viewing. You need to see this phone to really know what we mean by crisp display.

Performance

The Bada which literally means ocean in Korean represents the possibilities of the platform—unlimited. The OS is not really meeting head on with the Androids or the iPhones. It can be considered as a middleware, an evolution of the Samsung brand which aims to bring the smartphone experience to a wider segment of the market.

The ToughWiz 3.0 also provides a better interface for the user. This comes with a ton of useful widgets but we hope Samsung can come up with shortcuts for different applications.

Talk time is excellent at 15 hours while standby time can last 23 days.

Buffalo’s Latest iPod Dock With A 500GB Hard DriveWe all know that iPods as well as iPhones are certainly some of the most popular electronics in the world but did you know that there are actually iPhone docking stations now?  The latest and greatest iPhone docking station though is by Buffalo and it is the Buffalo HDD Dualie and it is not your average docking station.

The reason is because this particular gadget actually comes equipped with a 500GB hard disk drive that will allow you to charge and sync your iPhone.  You can also connect this particular docking station to your laptop via FireWire 800.

Currently, the price on this beauty is just under $250.00, but it is just for PC, the MAC version will be released next year!

iphone-vodafone-uk1Vodafone is a company that I would never really expect to release something as awesome – as cool and as packed with technology as the beautiful iPhone but they are.  For one, I did not know that the iPhone was not available in the UK, but it was not until next year – January 14th to be exact because that is when Vodafone is releasing the iPhone to the UK!

The iPhone has been all of the rave this year and last year and I can tell you that as soon as Vodafone releases the iPhone into the world of the UK, it is going to be absolutely incredible.

So if you live in the UK and you are looking for an iPhone, January 14th is the date that you can get it!
