Wave GT-S8500 from Samsung

The Wave was unwrapped by Samsung during the recent Mobile World Congress. It is the first smartphone by Samsung to run on their Bada Mobile OS. This phone is more for the international market where the provider does not subsidized the units making it a bit at the pricey end.

Design

It will not be the best touch screen phone in the market but it does the job especially for those looking for something compact. The phone comes in at 4.6 inches x 2.2 x 0.4. The Wave is very easy with your fingers and palm except that the virtual keyboard is a bit cramped.

The design lines are pretty sleek and in perfect combo with the aluminum case of the Samsung Wave.

The AMOLED display of the phone does the job with very vibrant graphics, excellent responsiveness, and better angles for viewing. You need to see this phone to really know what we mean by crisp display.

Performance

The Bada which literally means ocean in Korean represents the possibilities of the platform—unlimited. The OS is not really meeting head on with the Androids or the iPhones. It can be considered as a middleware, an evolution of the Samsung brand which aims to bring the smartphone experience to a wider segment of the market.

The ToughWiz 3.0 also provides a better interface for the user. This comes with a ton of useful widgets but we hope Samsung can come up with shortcuts for different applications.

Talk time is excellent at 15 hours while standby time can last 23 days.

LG L-06A and L-04A Phones: They Rock!

LG L-06A and L-04A PhonesSo let’s talk about LG – I know that we just did a blog about some phones that this particular company was doing, but they are one hot company right now.  Currently, they are coming out with a couple new phones that are geared toward Japan, however they could sneak over to the states if you really wanted one.  The LG L-06A and L-04A phones are two phones that I think everyone will really like – they are touchscreen after all!

These phones feature: swiveling touch panel, a 5.1MP camera, a MicroSD external memory, and HSUPA(High Speed Uplink Packet Access) service. The “G” button on the keypad provides users a one-touch connection to Google’s business directory.

Another cool thing about the LG L-06A and L-04A is the colors!  Red, pink, white, black – every color you can think about pretty much!   Very cool!
