Phones, Phones, Phones!

Cell phones are rather popular as Christmas gifts, and the holiday season will be here before you know it. If you are thinking about getting someone a phone as a gift, how do you go about it?

For starters, you have to do a little research, and it all revolves around the person for whom you are buying it. There are tons of different cell phones to choose from out there, so you have to make sure you know the recipient’s wants and needs.

If you are buying for someone who loves to send text messages, for instance, that will factor into your decision. If you are buying a phone for someone who only makes and receives cars, then you do not need to choose a phone with all the bells and whistles.

AT&T recently announced its intentions to unveil the new HP iPAQ Glisten World Phone. It runs on Windows Mobile, has a 6.5 touch screen, and 3G world capabilities. The phone will sell for $230.

The Glisten’s AMOLED touch screen is impressively large, allowing for vibrant and vivid colors. The phone also features a QWERTY keyboard, allowing for quick typing in sending messages and emails.

The Start Menu has been redesigned, the internet browser is improved and has Flash support, and there is My Phone service available for free. This service synchronizes messages, pictures, web data, and contacts.

The phone is designed specifically for business users and, as such, also features programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel complete with PowerPoint, Word, and even PDF support.

Samsung as a company has finally come out with two new dual SIM phones that are incredible.  Pictured above is the B5722 Samsung cell phone and I have to say, that this particular phone is actually pretty interesting compared to other cell phones that Samsung has come out with.

It features a 2.8-inch QVGA display with 262k colors, a 3.2MP camera with LED flash, Samsung’s TouchWiz Lite 1.0 UI, dual SIM card slots, a music player, an FM radio, access to Facebook and MySpace, a microSD card slot (up to 8GB), a 1200 mAh battery, Bluetooth and supports quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity.

Now, the C6112, which is another Samsung cell phone that they are releasing very soon as well features some of the same things but it is actually a slider phone that has a 2MP camera, dual SIM cars slots with up to 8GB of space along with a 960 mAh battery.

No word on pricing for these two beauties yet, but this December they should be released in Europe!

Pretty much par for the course, right? Absolutely, but it pays to have phones with high quality cameras. Why? For perfectly shallow purposes, that’s why.

Cell phones have gone from being a luxury for business people and busy folks to a must have accessory. If you don’t have a cell phone, you are looked at like you come from the the Stone Age.

People are getting rich off their cell phones, because everyone has the option to become part of the paparazzi. Regular people are taking big money pictures and videos. See an old lady fall on the ice? Start your video. See a guy robbing the local convenience store? Snap a picture.

Maybe attend a concert and see your favorite pop star peeing her pants on stage? Buddy, you could have a million dollars, right in your cell phone.

What a world, what a world.

Many of you may not be aware of this, but the uber popular BlackBerry Tour from Rhythm in Motion has been having a bit of a problem. Specifically, the smart phone has been suffering from a return rate of almost fifty percent! Why? Because its users are having all kinds of issues with the phone’s trackball.

It has recently been reported, in fact, that both Sprint and Verison were having problems with some of the early productions of the phone.

However, just as quickly, it appears that the problem has been fixed. What might have turned into a disaster for Rhythm in Motion was diverted, due to the fact that it seems only the first wave of phones had this problem.

Smartphones are something that everyone seems to be carrying these days – even Czech-based companies like Mivvy.  Mivvy is a company that is actually pretty cool in the scheme of things and they have come up with the Mivvy One smartphone which is supposed to be pretty damn cool.  Below, we are going to explore some specs, but you should know that this particular phone is a touchscreen and it looks so cool!

The Mivvy One Smartphone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and offers a 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen display, a 624MHz Marvell PXA300 processor, a 3MP camera, a 128MB RAM, a 256MB ROM, an FM radio, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and supports quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz).

All of this for about $380.00 – which is pretty damn sweet and a fantastic friggin’ deal!

When you are looking for just a phone that you can talk on that does not have a whole lot of technology – that can be hard to find.  Honestly, phones, even the inexpensive ones seem to be packed full of technology and are very hard to use – not anymore!  The LG GB109 is actually one of those phones that is geared toward people who are just looking for the stripped down, basic model!

The LG GB109 offers up a 1.5-inch CSTN display with 65K colors, a stereo FM radio, an organizer and a 950 mAh battery that lasts up to 6 hours in talk-time or up to 440 hours in stand-by time. 

The price is just right too and while this little candy bar phone is not for sale in the US just yet, it is available in Ukraine next month for around $148.00.

We all know that Philips is known for their phones – specifically they are known for their phones because of the fact that their phones last forever.  The Xenium series is the one with the battery life and I am pleased to report that they have a brand new phone to add to the family … the Philips X650.  This particular phone is actually a slider and it is so cool looking that you might think you are in the future.

The Philips X650 features a 2.4-inch TFT LCD display with 240 x 320 resolution and 262K colors, a 3.2MP autofocus camera, an FM radio, a 30MB internal memory, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth, a USB port and comes with an remarkable battery lifetime that lasts up to 8 hours in talk-time, or up to one month in stand-by mode.

Although the pricing and availability is still a mystery, it has to be said that the Philips X650 is a phone that people are going to want … me included!

To be honest – I try to avoid Sprint phones simply because the Sprint service all together is terrible.  I used to be a Sprint customer for years, however I switched on over to T-Mobile and I could not be happier!  However, Sprint is coming out with some of the coolest phones in the world … the LG LX290 is one of the them.  This phone is actually a slider phone and it is by far one phone that I think that you may need to check out.

While it is little, it is still a slider phone that is pretty cheap (it runs about $29.99 after $50.00 mail-in rebate), the cool thing about this phone is that you have all of the technology of the bigger phones in a small phone.  The LG LX290 offers a 1.33 x 1.77 inches QVGA TFT screen, a 1.3MP camera with 2x digital zoom, GPS (Sprint Navigation), Picture Messaging, Bluetooth, NFL Mobile Live, a 2.5mm headset jack and a 950 mAh battery for up to 6 hours of talk time.

All of this for that low price?  Incredible!  So give Sprint a chance and at least check out this cool looking LG phone!

In this economy, people are constantly looking for a way to save a little cash and going with a mid-range cell phone is one great way to ensure that you do save yourself some cash.  You do not have to always have the very best phone – honestly, you don’t and that is one of the main reasons why Samsung has taken it upon themselves to create some of the best mid-range phones on the market today.  The Samsung S6700, C5510, M2510 and M2310 are four phones that are incredible to use, however, they are mid-range and mid-priced. 

These phones all have music capabilities, they all have cameras and while they memory is going to be different for all of them and the design is slightly different, they all look great too.  These moderately priced phones would be perfect for anyone just looking for a cell phone to use once in a while that does not do a whole lot.

So check out the Samsung S6700, C5510, M2510 and M2310 cell phones and find which one suits you the best!
